Broker's Comments

Boatshed Norfolk are very pleased to be able to offer to the market this very tidy example of the very popular, well built and respected Broom Crown 37.

These are large and very well appointed cruisers for river or sea use, and this example is very well equipped for sea use with an extensive Simrad suite of navigation, Raytheon radar and autopilot kit at both helm stations.

She is powered by two clean looking Perkins HT6354 motors so will have a good turn of speed when required but will also be economical and very manoeuvrable on the rivers.

She is presented in polished original gelcoat and has very few marks on her hull given her age and looks very good to the eye from a distance and also close up! She has a large flybridge helm position giving commanding views across the river and a folding radar arch and screen so that she can deal with some lower bridges on many waterways systems.

Her upper helm is well equipped with chart plotter, autopilot and other instruments and she has a twin companion seat to port of the main helm seat. Both seats lift up to reveal storage and gas bottle storage respectively. Moving down the side decks is a breeze as the decks are wide and fully fitted with solid stainless steel guard rails featured with entry points with safety chains and easy steps to the cockpit and the large foredeck.

The huge foredeck is a very safe and roomy space to work the boat from or just relax on deck. The boat has twin fender baskets fitted to both sides of the bow and an electric windlass with local controls. The GRP and gelcoat across the entire boat appears to be in very good condition for her years and she just shines and exudes the quality that these boats are known for.
Inside, moving down to the interior from the large and roomy cockpit you traverse a lovely enclosed spiral staircase that stops at the main saloon level, before continuing down further to the signature aft master cabin.

The saloon is large, bright, very cosy and well appointed with Teak cabinetry and huge amounts of storage. The curved seating will convert to form an occasional berth and the starboard side-mounted, fully equipped lower helm fits nicely at the seating's end.

Side sliding doors afford access to the deck directly from the lower helm station and the port side of the saloon. Engine access is via the main saloon floor through several removable and sound insulated panels. There is also an engine bay access crawl way from the aft master cabin. Moving forward the galley-down layout places the galley to port and this is fully equipped as you would expect. Full size cooker with grill and oven, microwave oven, large fridge and ample workspace and cupboards as well as twin floor storage bins.

Opposite the very nice galley is the forward heads compartment which is a combined heads and shower space. The finish is all gelcoat and original in the heads and is very nice indeed. It should be noted that most Brooms have the forward heads go to a holding tank and the aft heads in the master cabin are direct sea toilets.

The front twin cabin is the last space forward and is huge with double access doors from the lobby area between the galley and forward heads. This space has ample storage and is very nicely trimmed and comfortable. The anchor chain locker can also be accessed from this cabin.

Lastly the aft master full-width cabin. Brooms are well known for this space and this example is exactly how it was built by the master boat builder. The huge cabin is still completely original and appears to be in very good cosmetic condition (as does the whole boat). There is a large separate heads to starboard and a very good size separate shower compartment. Both again in gelcoat finish and very, very tidy and clean.
There is plenty of storage and hanging space and lockers in this cabin and it feels roomy and very comfortable. The upholstery is also in excellent condition.

The engine space houses two 185hp Perkins HT 6354 and they appear to be visually in very good order and the vendor advises they run as they should.

The boat is very, very good for her age but if I had to be critical of her as she is 43 years old, I would say there is a small area of woodwork that would benefit a light varnishing. This relates to a small panel in the galley end area. There are a couple of small wooden edge trims that have splits in them that would be nice to replace but these are not obvious. Lastly the large canopy would benefit from a couple of small repairs but appears to be a quality canopy that is well engineered and otherwise sound. Other than that she looked very good to my eye.

She has shore power fitted and heating and looks to have been loved and well-maintained by her previous owners.

Stainless steel davits, boarding ladder and bathing platform and stainless steel exhaust outlets complete this stunning Broom Crown 37. Owner confirms she was serviced in November and the fuel tanks were polished. He also confirms she was copper coated about 8 years back.

So, overall, this is a huge amount of more than capable "go anywhere" type boat that is well equipped and appears to be in very much above average condition. If you want a top brand capable boat that you can use with confidence then this one is for you. She will come with a fresh Boat Safety Certificate for the new owner once the sale is agreed so that the new owner can benefit from a full 4 year ticket.
