Broker's Comments
Walking along the pontoon towards this lovely MK1 Catalina 400, was a very pleasant surprise of how clean and well maintained she looks, I was impressed.
I particularly liked the extremely wide stern with its boarding stage, swim ladder, twin lockers. The twin steering wheel setup enables you to walk forward from the stern boarding platform without having to dodge around a large-diameter wheel or climb over a cockpit seat. she has off-centre helm wheels, walking through to the companionway comfortably.
The cockpit is spacious with a handy drop-leaf cockpit table enough forward of the wheels to avoid becoming an obstruction. The deck is clean with chain plates and genoa tracks. The foredeck has a large anchor locker that contains a windlass and the stemhead has twin anchor rollers.
Going below, the companionway leads to the galley, saloon and cabins. Both cabins have ensuite heads/wc and shower; the main aft cabin has bedside table areas both sides of the bed, dressing table and hanging wardrobe with shelves.
The galley has electric refrigeration, microwave stove with oven, deep stainless double sinks, hot and cold pressure water, good stowage. 240v shorepower.
Good access to the engine underneath the companionway steps.
The heating is diesel, hot air with four outlets in both cabins the saloon and the forward head.
All the engine servicing is recorded, in excess of the makers recommendations; the current owner was an engineer technician in the RAF. The sails are 1999, fully battened main, taken off every year October to March, cleaned and serviced every 2 or 3 seasons.
Recent works:
* new starter battery December 2022
* mast standing rigging entirely replaced, to include all wires, fittings and bottle screws
* sails cleaned and serviced December 2022
* 135% Genoa UV protection cover replaced
* engine serviced 9th January 2023, including fuel filters, oil filters, heat exchanger anode, engine and gearbox oils
This Catalina 400 is a beauty. She sails well, she has a very comfortable interior - you can't help but be impressed.
